Seeking Mercury – Fall Olympia Arts Walk

☿ SEEKING MERCURY: Art Designed for Divination and Transformation ☿
Multimedia Group Exhibit
As celestial messenger, psychopomp, and guardian of thresholds, Mercury (Hermes) has long stood where the earthly plane meets the divine. As patron archetype of astrology, alchemy, and divine revelation, Mercury governs communication, occult wisdom, and the swift movement between worlds.
Opening for Fall Arts Walk 2026 at The Rosarium, Seeking Mercury brings together three local multidisciplinary artists interpreting the messenger god through visual art, sacred objects, and sound:
Inspired by traditional fortune-telling card art and his travels through personal dreamscapes, Samhain translates these visions into deeply intuitive work. Using spray paint and stencils on raw plywood alongside custom frequency-generating ‘Rheadionic’ devices, he turns ancient Hindu symbols, radionics, and the Tarot on their head. The result is a series of layered, intervisual portals—a graphically maximalist and wholly psychedelic atmosphere that primes viewers to receive epiphanies from their own unconscious minds.
In her latest series, Pocket Palladium, Nicole Guerrera channels the apotropaic magic of Hermes Propylaios (protector of the gateway) and Enodios (guardian of the crossroads). Working with palladium leaf, fire, ink, and raw elemental media, she offers tactile devotional cards built for practical use—consecrated safeguards for travel and boundary work that can double as altar pieces.
Ion King transforms the gallery environment through Magician’s Frequency, an immersive sound installation tuned to traditional Mercurial correspondences. Built around the musical note E and the 528Hz tone, the piece layers Solfeggio frequencies and ambient samples to shift the resonance of the physical space.
Join us at The Rosarium for Fall Arts Walk 2026 to explore how these distinct mediums—visual art, ritual tools, and ambient sound—intersect to open local avenues of divination and personal practice.
Featured Artists:
Samhain “the time traveling artist”, is a lifelong resident of Washington who spent his formative years on Vashon Island, a place that makes everyone weird. Samhain’s current art draws inspiration from dreaming, the occult, psychology, tarot, astrology, radionics, the tatwa mandala artist Emahmn, and other unusual sources. Spray paint and stencils on plywood are the most common means of artistic creation for Samhain, but he also enjoys building frequency and sound generating devices, making music, video production, carpentry, and working with concrete and stone.
Nicole Guerrera is a California-born artist, and student of astrology, whose work has been shown nationally and internationally. She explores myth, celestial mechanics, and raw materiality through painting, sculpture, and devotional planetary magic. Emphasizing tactile texture and experimental technique with water, ink, fire, oil paint, metal leaf, and collage, her process transforms elemental fragments into cohesive works that share an aesthetic pulse. By bridging the cosmic divine and the terrestrial plane, she invites the viewer to witness what remains in the aftermath of this alchemical transformation.
Returning to The Rosarium for her second group show in the exhibition “Seeking Mercury: Art Designed for Divination and Transformation” for Fall Arts Walk 2026, the artist presents her newest work, Pocket Palladium. Inspired by the protective archetypes of Hermes Propylaios (protector of the gateway) and Enodios (guardian of the crossroads), these pocket-sized cards are infused with the deity’s symbolism and elemental materials, offering travelers, threshold-crossers, and those seeking a home warden a consecrated, tactile object for their own travel protections, petitions, or boundary work. Incorporating palladium leaf—referencing the sacred mythic safeguard of antiquity—these pieces exist twofold: as functional tools designed for altars and journeys, and as intimate, highly tactile additions to a contemporary art collection.
Ion King is a Washington-born multidisciplinary artist with over two decades of live performance experience and has played shows nationally, appearing on bills with the likes of Savage Republic, Rubber (() Cement, and NYC’s Netherlands. For his most recent work, the artist performed an original live score for the classic 1968 French film, Le Révélateur at The Crypt in Olympia. His work can be described as experimental, innovative, and, at times, challenging, blending math rock, industrial, harsh noise, thrash, trip-hop, trance, and EDM genres, in which he employs heavy use of samples plundered from film, all eras of pop music, and personal field recordings.
The artist’s meditative audio installation, Trance Haptic (performed for Fall Arts Walk 2025), laid the groundwork for his contribution to the “Seeking Mercury: Art Designed for Divination and Transformation” exhibition at The Rosarium this fall. Magician’s Frequency is a continuation of his exploration into healing Solfeggio frequencies, folding in occult correspondences associated with Mercury—such as the musical note E and the 528Hz “miracle tone”—to bring the listener into direct communion with the messenger god.
