A faithful replica of a delightful and very rare fortune telling deck, from Czechoslovakia in the 1920s.
Very little is known about this delightful and very rare fortune telling deck. We do know that it was created in Czechoslovakia between 1920 and 1930, for the Parabeco Company, a textile and bead company based in New York’s Soho district during the early 1900s.

The beginning of the 20th century was a wonderfully active time for fortune telling decks of all kinds, including this unique little deck. It’s not a Lenormand, it’s not a Gypsy deck; the cards in this deck aren’t found elsewhere and there’s almost no overlap with other oracle decks. The 32 unnumbered cards have titles in English, and the meanings in French, German, and English, just as they were on the original cards. They give frank and sometimes very specific advice, and several are playful, even funny. This is a great deck for down to earth advice. The original instructions have suggested layouts that the publisher hasn’t seen anywhere else. These instructions are included word for word.

This faithful replica uses the original Art Deco era illustrations, which used only white, red, and blue ink. The chromolithographic screens use swirling and overlapping patterns that are beautiful in their own right!
