Phoenix is the Firebird of rebirth and awakening— rising from the ashes.
The Fiery rebirth of true will.

The phoenix is the archetypal bird in alchemy. The Phoenix builds its nest which at the same time is its funeral pyre, it rises, reborn, out of its own ashes, representing the alchemical process of death and rebirth.

To embody and embrace the Phoenix reminds us of our ability to regenerate from within, and our power in that transformation.

Phoenix ritual oil  is perfect to work with in times of transformation, rituals of death and rebirth, as well as the evocation or invocation of this being of power, for consecration, fire and purity or activating your true will.

The oil is made from the historical/mythological ingredients the Phoenix used to build its nest, and is a perfect offering for attracting its virtues.

Originally birthed in the form of incense in 2009 and a year later in the form of an anointing oil. This particular batch was made on the New Moon in Libra and Venus Retrograde, October 8th, 2018 in the hour of the Sun.

May be worn as perfume oil, burn in oil diffusor, to dress mojo bags, vigil candles or taper candles.

Herodotus, writing in the 5th century BC, on the phoenix:

“[The Egyptians] have also another sacred bird called the phoenix which I myself have never seen, except in pictures. Indeed it is a great rarity, even in Egypt, only coming there (according to the accounts of the people of Heliopolis) once in five hundred years, when the old phoenix dies. Its size and appearance, if it is like the pictures, are as follow:- The plumage is partly red, partly golden, while the general make and size are almost exactly that of the eagle. They tell a story of what this bird does, which does not seem to me to be credible: that he comes all the way from Arabia, and brings the parent bird, all plastered over with myrrh, to the temple of the Sun, and buries the body. In order to bring him, they say, he first forms a ball of myrrh as big as he finds that he can carry; then he hollows out the ball, and puts his parent inside, after which he covers over the opening with fresh myrrh, and the ball is then of exactly the same weight as at first; so he brings it to Egypt, plastered over as I have said, and deposits it in the temple of the Sun. Such is the story they tell of the doings of this bird.”

From Dante…. Incense and the Phoenix have been long associated.

“Even thus by the great sages ’tis confessed The phoenix dies, and then is born again, When it approaches its five-hundredth year; On herb or grain it feeds not in its life, But only on tears of incense and amomum, and nard and myrrh are its last winding-sheet.”

I met Catamara at the Emerald Spiral Expo a while back & I purchased Phoenix. I was drawn to Phoenix because recently, my life had shifted tremendously & I felt a resonance with the Spirit of Phoenix in that I am reborn. I used Phoenix to anoint a drum I was making in honor of the Phoenix, even named my drum Phoenix. I absolutely love the scent & frequently touch drops on my wrists, as well as use in my oil burner. The smell brings me back to myself, in remembering I am like the Phoenix, arising from the ashes.

I’ve been applying Phoenix oil where my wings would be, to remind myself that I am rising from the ashes and reborn anew each day. The scent is lovely, warm, and empowering. I can feel the energy and intention Catamara put into the creation of this oil.

This has a very activating aroma, even richer than the incense. It’s use on vigil candles and sigil Papers makes for very positive and effective transformation workings.
